It’s an 85 UR Quattro. We may add the historic post from our previous site here too but for now here’s its latest shenanigans.
Hi all. we know, it’s been a minute. A lot of minutes. But that doesn’t mean nothing’s been happening with and too the car. Quite the contrary. The car was running great for a while there back in fall of 2024 but it still had its on boost hesitation thing going on. Then, just mildly into the boost leaving a light it died and rolled to halt, luckily into a parking lot. Tow truck time. Back to the showroom.

We parked it till June 2025 when we decided to smoke test it.

Were we found the boost pipe had split. Fortunately we had a spare from our 83 as that is getting an AAN swap.

But we didn’t neglects the car in the interim. In fact, we made a lot of improvements. Like getting the passenger seat repaired.

and doing a compression test

Then we drained the tank to clean out any debris, replaced the fuel filters and tested the fuel sender as we didn’t trust it anymore. It was fine. The motivation for doing this was because we decided to rebuild the fuel distributor in the hope that it might fix our boost hesitation and also because, well, it’s 40 odd years old. It can’t be pristine still.

The car runs a lot better now, starts and idles much more smoothly but we still haven’t cured out hesitation on boost. Regardless, we spent the rest of the season enjoying and sharing the car.

What’s next for the car? Well, we’ve decided to put it up for sale! Will need a little prep and some minor fixes and we need to track down that bloody hesitation too.
