The Quattro Squad Story
Quattro Squad is a small crew of Audi diehards in Southeast Michigan, chasing a shared dream: build a street-legal tribute to the legendary Group B Audi Quattro rally car. What started as a collaboration between Team Illuminata Motorsport (T.I.M.) and a handful of students and enthusiasts has turned into a full-on mission to turn a 1983 Audi Quattro into a rally-spec machine inspired by the iconic Group B Audi Quattro A1.

Our Group B Quattro Journey
We’re loosely rooted at Oakland University in Michigan and plugged into the wider Audi world, documenting this build across Instagram , Facebook , and YouTube. The project has been picked up by Audi enthusiasts around the globe, following along on forums like AudiWorld, Pelican Parts, and Classic Motorsports.
Our philosophy is simple: nothing is hidden. Every win, every setback, every budget decision, and every sketchy “will this work?” idea gets shared. If you love these cars like we do, we want you in the garage with us; learning, laughing, and maybe occasionally questioning our life choices.
What We’re Trying To Do
This build came about because we bought a parts car for our concours grade 85 UR Quattro. Unfortunately (or fortunately) that turned out to be both too nice to part out and too far gone to be a restoration project. Well. It had been someone’s track toy and was going to be his track beast but the project stalled, for twelve years. Then we bought it. It was partially dismantled, had no interior, a rudimentary cage and some nice parts. The best part on the car was the shell but who needs a spare shell. It clearly was never going to be a road going UR Quattro again so we thought we’d turn it into a Group B tribute. Then we found a website of a real Group B restoration and thought ” we could do that”. Now we are trying to build the car to the left replicating as much as we can in-house and buying what we can’t, so long as it’s not ridiculously expensive. The mission creep is strong in this one.
